28 October 2024

The 2024 NCR Capacity Development Program on Case Build-Up for Law Enforcement Agents (or the DC20 Trainings) by DOJ Prosecutors held a back-to-back run (12th and 13th Sessions) on October 14-18, 2024 at the Lucky Chinatown Hotel, Binondo, Manila for the law enforcement agents and prosecutors from the Eastern District (Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig and San Juan).

The training is targeted to enhance participants’ skills on effective case build-up and evidence gathering, as well as to institutionalize the communication, collaboration and coordination between the prosecutors and law enforcement agents under the guidance and supervision of the Department of Justice-National Prosecution Service (DOJ-NPS).

The weekly training sessions which started in August this year are supervised and facilitated by prosecutor-trainers from the Office of the Secretary of Justice Prosecution Staff (OSJPS) and the NCR.

The comprehensive curriculum of the training program focuses on investigating a range of criminal activities, including violent crimes, sexual offenses, human trafficking and online sexual exploitation of children, terrorism-related acts, and drug cases.

Specific modules delve into discussions on guiding principles and ethical standards, as well as the case build-up policy, rationale, scope, elements, evidence, and case build-up procedures.

Essentially, the DC 20 Trainings are designed to bolster the capabilities of law enforcement agents in case build-up, reinforcing professionalism and efficacy within the ranks.

This initiative underscores a collective commitment between the DOJ and the PNP to equip law enforcement agents with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively handle various criminal cases and contribute to a more efficient and collaborative criminal justice system.

The NCR DC 20 Trainings are expected to run until November 2024 and aim to target a total number of 800 prosecutors and law enforcement agents stationed at the National Capital Region.
