Advancing the vision of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” C. Remulla of delivering Real Justice in Real Time, the Department of Justice-Bureau of Corrections (DOJ-BuCor) hosted a seminar-workshop on RA 10592 otherwise known as the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law.
Held last Friday, 24 January 2025, at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation in Muntinlupa City, the activity engaged 25 lawyers from the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), 10 representatives each from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) and Legal Aid Society of the Philippines (LASP).
Undersecretary-in-Charge for the DOJ Communications Cluster Margarita N. Gutierrez delivered the welcoming remarks of the event, highlighting the vital role of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in nation-building and inspiring positivity through reformation.
The seminar-workshop delved into the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the GCTA Law, Prison Record Validation and other important matters involving the rehabilitation of PDLs.
BuCor Chief Gregorio P. Catapang, Jr. led the closing ceremonies of the seminar-workshop, vowing to remain steadfast in his commitment to pursuing significant Correctional reforms to aid PDLs in their reintegration to mainstream society.
“As I said before and as I repeat now, we will always be relentless in finding solutions on how to bring efficient and compassionate justice for all, especially to our reforming PDLs who serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for others,” Justice Secretary Remulla emphasized.
