Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" C. Remulla underscored the commitment of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to supporting the commemoration of the 126th Anniversary Proclamation of the Philippine Independence.
This as the DOJ, along with 50 other participating government agencies, is set to render various frontline services to the public at the Rizal Park in Manila beginning today.
The two-day event dubbed “Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo (PPS)” will run from 10-11 June 2024 and is one of the government’s activities for the week-long celebration.
The DOJ Action Center (DOJAC) and the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) will be offering free legal services and assistance to walk-in clients while the Board of Claims (BOC) will render assistance to victims compensation applications and queries.
Moreover, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be processing clearance applications while the Bureau of Immigration (BI) will render assistance for tourist online visa applications.
An Independence Day Parade will be launched on 12 June 2024 for the culmination of the activity.
In line with the vision of the Bagong Pilipinas, Secretary Remulla emphasized, "The DOJ remains committed and united with the Marcos Administration in forging a future where our collective resilience triumphs over any adversity, our forefathers fought hard for the independence we cherish today and it is our time to do the same to protect it for the future of the next generations."
Earlier this month, DOJAC, under the supervision of Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez, spearheaded the DOJ Katarungan Caravan in Marawi City.
The month-long caravan, which runs from 03 June to 03 July 2024, offers free legal services to victims of the 2017 Marawi seige and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in filing their claims under Republic Act No. 11696 otherwise known as the Marawi Seige Compensation Act of 2022.
