Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla has signed today the Immigration Lookout Bulletin (ILBO) against seven officials of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) over alleged misuse of government funds of the OVP for 2022 and 2023.
This, after Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability panel Chair Rep. Joel R. Chua, in a letter addressed to Secretary Remulla, sought the issuance of an ILBO against said officials deemed flight risk personalities.
The ILBO has been forwarded to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) who was tasked to monitor the subjects’ movements and alert the DOJ of any attempt by them to leave the country.
Justice Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Jose Dominic F. Clavano IV clarified, “The ILBO does not restrict the right to travel. It’s just a monitoring mechanism to see whether a listed individual has traveled or not.”
Secretary Remulla reiterated the DOJ's firm stand to fulfill its mandate of faithfully upholding the rule of law regardless the status or influence of the personalities subject for scrutiny, in this case, high ranking officials of the second highest official in the country.
"Rest assured the DOJ will remain committed in its obligation to the Filipino people as the government's principal law agency and take necessary action, if warranted, despite the influence or status of the personalities involved," the Secretary averred.
"No one will be spared from our thrust in delivering justice for all as we guarantee the DOJ's continued cooperation with our partners in Congress in pursuit for truth and justice At the same time, we take this chance to extend our gratitude to the trust and confidence of the House of Representatives for our beloved Department," Sec. Remulla stressed.
Placed under the ILBO are OVP Chief of Staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez, Asst. Chief of Staff and Bids and Awards Committee Chair Atty. Lemuel Ortonio if the OVP, Administrative and Financial Service Director Atty. Rosalynne Sanchez of the OVP, Special Disbursing Officer (SDO) Gina Acosta of the OVP, Chief Accountant Julieta Villadelrey of the OVP, former DepEd Asst. Secretary Sunshine Charry Fajarda, and DepEd SDO Edward Fajarda, now with the OVP.
