The Department of Justice – Office for Competition (DOJ-OFC), in partnership with the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (OINLEA) of the United States (US) Embassy and Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) of the US Department of Justice, is set to conduct the Advanced Training on Competition on 5-6 April 2018 at the New World Manila Bay Hotel, Manila.

This two-day event is designed to enhance the capacity of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) and OFC in the investigation and prosecution of criminal violations of Republic Act No. 10667, otherwise known as the Philippine Competition Act. Participants from the NPS (DOJ-Main and local prosecution offices across the country), National Bureau of Investigation and OFC, as well as officials from the DOJ and US Embassy, are expected to attend.

Experts from the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice will act as resource persons and facilitators on topics related to leniency, investigation techniques, economic evidence and US experiences in prosecuting hardcore cartels.

The Advanced Training on Competition is an offshoot of the capacity building series entitled “Module 1: Basic Training on Competition and Orientation on the Philippine Competition Act” conducted by the OFC in 2017, as well as discussions during the 7th PH-US Bilateral Strategic Dialogue through the Working Group on Rule of Law and Law Enforcement.
