My fellow members of the DOJ Family, magandang umaga po sa inyong lahat!
For 2018, Pope Francis has declared that for the month of February, the Universal Intention that Roman Catholics should pray for is that ALL SHOULD SAY NO TO CORRUPTION.
He further said that we should pray that those who have material, political or spiritual power may resist any lure of corruption.
At the very start of the month, we at the DOJ have heeded the call of the Pope.
As already reported in the media, on February 1, 2018, I terminated the services of three DOJ employees who were discovered, and who have confessed, to being involved in anomalies in the processing of Immigration Quota Visas in exchange for large sums of money. They have also confessed to forging the signature of a DOJ official in a spurious document to convince their Chinese clients that they are doing something about the application.
In addition to being terminated, these DOJ employees have already been subjected to an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO).
Last Friday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started filing cases against them as a result of the investigation they conducted.
As I have said, let this serve as a warning to all; no act of corruption will be tolerated while I serve as your steward of the Department of Justice.
The ONE STRIKE POLICY is in full effect at our DOJ!
President Duterte is very serious in winning the war against corruption in all forms. We are very serious in waging that war here in the DOJ.
The dividends of corruption will be prosecution.
To borrow an old Chinese saying, A SINGLE MISSTEP MAY RESULT INTO A THOUSAND YEARS OF SORROW.
Salamat po and a blessed week ahead to all!
