Manila, Philippines – November 5, 2024 – The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking in Persons (IACAT), in partnership with the Australian Government-funded ASEAN-Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN-ACT) program, proudly celebrated the accomplishments of four outstanding Filipino leaders at the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Leadership Excellence Advancement Program (CTIP LEAP) Recognition Ceremony. This prestigious event, held at the Department of Justice Hall in Manila, marked a pivotal moment in the ongoing fight against human trafficking.
The CTIP LEAP is a year-long initiative designed to cultivate and enhance the leadership capabilities of emerging leaders in the counter-trafficking sector. After a rigorous selection process, Senior Assistant Regional Prosecutor Robert Michael N. Razon, Police Colonel Vina H. Guzman, Project Development Officer IV, Desiree Ann T. Sumalinog-Fantonalgo and Social Welfare Officer V, Miriam C. Navarro were chosen to represent the Philippines in the 2025 CTIP LEAP. These individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and expertise in their efforts to combat human trafficking.
During the ceremony, Her Excellency Tiffany McDonald, Australian Ambassador to ASEAN, graced the occasion and presented tokens of congratulations to the awardees. Ambassador McDonald’s presence underscored the strong partnership between the Philippines and Australia in advancing regional efforts against human trafficking.
The recognition of these emerging leaders highlights the critical role of leadership in driving impactful anti-trafficking initiatives across the Philippines and the broader ASEAN region. Their knowledge, skills, and commitment are pivotal in the collective fight to protect vulnerable individuals and dismantle trafficking networks.
