PCC, DOJ sign MOA to strengthen competition law enforcement

Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra and Chairman Arsenio M. Balisacan of the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 08 June 2018 to formalize the joint commitment of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the PCC to strengthen the enforcement of the Philippine Competition Act (R.A. No. 10667).

The MOA signing held at the Ateneo Professional Schools, Rockwell Center, Makati City was witnessed by DOJ Undersecretary Antonio T. Kho, Jr., PCC Commissioners Stella Luz A. Quimbo, Johannes Benjamin R. Bernabe and Amabelle C. Asuncion, as well as representatives from the DOJ-Office for Competition (OFC).

The Secretary of Justice, being a former PCC Commissioner, underscored the significance of the event in furthering collaboration between the DOJ and the PCC in the area of competition policy.

The ceremonial signing also marked the sixth (6th) founding anniversary of the OFC which was created on 09 June 2011 by virtue of Executive Order No. 45, and retained as the DOJ’s specialized unit under the Office of the Secretary to investigate and prosecute criminal cartels under R.A. No. 10667.
