On June 14, 2017, Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II signed Department Order No. 399, AUTHORITY TO CONDUCT INVESTIGATION AND CASE BUILD-UP OVER THE DISAPPEARANCE OF FOUR INDONESIAN NAVY PERSONNEL LAST DECEMBER 2016 WHO ESCORTED FILIPINO FISHERMEN ON BOARD  FB NURHANA NEAR THE BORDER BETWEEN  THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA.

“People do not just disappear. When people suddenly disappear without any explanation it becomes a serious matter that should be investigated. If a crime is committed relative to such disappearances, the responsible persons must be held accountable. We need to get to the bottom of this”,  Justice Secretary Aguirre II said after signing the order.
