Local law enforcement officials (LEOs) made true their promise to ensure the safety of those under their jurisdiction following the arrest of a female resident caught in the act of selling methampethamine hydrochloride (shabu) to an undercover cop.

Helenmie Puzon Abueva alias “Inday” became the subject of a buy-bust operation after an informant tagged her as a pusher within a certain area in Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City. Incidentally, Abueva was also among the suspected drug personalities of the Parañaque City Police Station. During the operation, “Inday” was arrested after selling shabu to a poseur-buyer.

The Parañaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) – Branch 259 found Abueva guilty beyond reasonable doubt of violating Sec. 5, Art. II of RA 9165 (sale of dangerous drugs) and sentenced her to suffer life imprisonment and to pay a fine of Php 1,000,000.00.

Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II commended Assistant State Prosecutors Alexander Q. Suarez and Susan B. Azarcon of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) for the successful conviction.

“Convictions like this send a very strong message to would-be offenders; there is no future in drugs. We will come after you,” Justice Secretary Aguirre said.
