30 September 2015

The Department of Justice scored 3 consecutive court convictions against 3 delinquent rapists/sex offenders from different regions of the country.

In separate judicial decisions, the court convicted Facundo Salamanque from San Juan, Iriga City who raped a laundry woman for 3 consecutive times at the same place and time; Alvin Amano of Libmanan, Camarines Sur who sexually assaulted her minor-niece and Arturo Mariano from Mangaldan Pangasinan who sexually attacked a mentally-disabled minor.

Based from court affidavits, Salamanque deceived the laundry-woman for a laundry job in a certain house within their neighbourhood. Upon arriving, the house was discovered to be unoccupied where the accused used a knife to threat the woman in order to fulfil his sexual motives.

On another note, child-molesters Amano and Mariano were ordered to compensate a larger sum of amount for moral, civil and exemplary damages.

All the accused were sentenced to reclusion perpetua or life imprisonment without eligibility of parole.

Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima commended the National Prosecution Service (NPS) for the successful prosecution of these 3 cases.

“Women and children should always be cautious, stay focused and alert at all times for we never know when these sexual predators will attack,” De Lima advised.
