DOJ moves Prison PPP PQ submission date

The Department of Justice has given prospective bidders of the Regional Prison Facilities through PPP project until May 29 to submit their pre-qualification (PQ) documents. The implementing agency (IA) of the 'first of its kind" PPP project in the country originally set the deadline last May 6.

As of date, three prospective bidders have shown interest in the project namely Megawide, DM Consunji, Inc., and San Miguel Corp.

This PPP project with an indicative cost of Php 50.2 billion started inviting interested companies last February 27 with the release of its invitation to pre-qualify and bid advertisement.

Last April 8, the government conducted a Pre-Qualification Conference for the project which was attended by foreign and local investors.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit applications to pre-qualify and bid for the design, financing, construction, and maintenance of the modern prison facilities that will be constructed at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija. It will accommodate 26,880 inmates, including staff housing and administrative buildings, areas for rehabilitation (sports, work and religious activity), and will be installed with high security 'equipment.

A number of supporting accommodation and building-related services may be outsourced as part of the PPPagreement, such as laundry, waste treatment and disposal, sewage water treatment and power generation.
