DOJ condoles with family of former Secretary Raul M. Gonzalez

The Department of Justice (DOJ) today extended its deep sympathies to the family of the late Raul M. Gonzalez who served as Secretary of Justice from 1 September 2004 to 2 September 2007 and 16 November 2007 to 11January 2010.

"We wish to offer our prayers in the time of sorrow for an astute lawyer and a dedicated family man" said Secretary Leila M. De Lima. "He lived a long and fruitful life and may he rest in God's peaceful presence," she said.

Among the high profile cases during his stint were the plunder charges against former President and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Jinggoy Estrada, Jaime Dichavez,  Atong Ang, et.al., coup d' etat charges against former Lt. SG and now Senator Antonio Trillanes, murder charges against Rod Strunk, Nur Misuari for rebellion, Mayor Celso delos Angeles - Legacy Group of Companies for syndicated estafa, filing of charges against M/V Princess of the Stars and murder charges against former Senator Panfilo Lacson in connection with the death of Bobby Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.
