DOJ prosecutors take up Advanced Courses in International Law

The DOJ joined the Advanced Courses organized by The Hague Academy of International Law (THAIL) in partnership with the Supreme Court (SC) and the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) held at the Judicial Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay City which started 19 February 2024 until 01 March 2024.

The two-week activity is an in-depth and all-encompassing professional training course on Public and Private International Law which will tackle vital subject matters relating to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), International Criminal Law, International Law Regarding Human Trafficking Hague Conference on Private International Law, Climate Change, International Courts and Tribunals, International Law Pertaining to Families and Children and many more.

Aside from DOJ delegates, court justices and judges, representatives from the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) took part in the activity.

“Let me take this opportunity to offer my heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of this training course for bringing together legal minds towards a robust academic discussion amidst the many challenges we face,” Secretary Jesus Crispin Boying Remulla said.

“It is mandatory that our prosecutors, state counsels and personnel are all well-equipped with training, education and wisdom which will serve as the DOJ’s foundation in safeguarding the legal right of every Filipino,” the Secretary emphasized.
