SOJ Vitaliano N. Aguirre II visits Filipino soldiers wounded in fighting the Maute group in Marawi City and promised to help them with the Board of Claims for applicable financial assistance

Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre visited today at Camp Evangelista Army Hospital in  Cagayan De Oro City some of the soldiers who were injured fighting Maute group members in Marawi City.

Accompanied by DOJ Undersecretaries Kho, Orceo and Marco, Secretary Aguirre II promised to look into the possible financial assistance from the Board of Claims for the soldiers who were either wounded or killed in action in Marawi City.

For this purpose DOJ USec. Reynante Orceo, Usec in Charge of the Board of Claims was tasked to determine how best to process the possible claims of the soldiers and of their families.

Aside from promising financial assistance by way of the Board of Claims, Secretary Aguirre also gave Php 50,000.00 from his personal funds to the Directress of the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital for the needs of the  wounded and recuperating soldiers.

"We cannot thank our soldiers enough for their bravery and gallant acts in the defense of our people in Marawi City. This is the least we can do for them", Secretary Aguirre said.
